Q. Can you represent me as an actor?

A. I’m afraid not. As casting directors, we liaise with production companies and directors to find cast members for film, TV and commercials. We love actors but we don’t represent them.

Q. Can you recommend an agent?

A. I’m afraid we can’t. You can contact the MEAA for a list of agents for each state in Australia.

Q. Where can I park at McGregor Casting?

A. Charles St is tiny. You are best off parking on Bourke St, Thurlow St or Chelsea St.

Q. Can I send you my headshot, reel and bio?

A. Absolutely. Email to apply@mcgregorcasting.com.

Q. Is it essential to be on Showcast, Casting Networks and Altai?

A. Yes. Yes. Yes. We use these platforms everyday scouring for talent. Actors are at a disadvantage if you do not have a presence on these sites or if your profile is not up-to-date. Think of these sites as your professional resume and please make sure you have a showreel or a few self-tapes on there so we can see you in action.

If you're not a member you can sign up here: Showcast / Casting Networks / Altai

Q. Can I check the progress of my submission?

A. Due to the high volume of submissions we receive we do not have the capacity to respond to unsuccessful auditions. We encourage you to keep an eye on our Facebook, Instagram and website for future casting calls.

Q. How do I record a self-tape?

A. Please read our self-tape guide here: McGregor Casting Self-Tape Guide.

All of our audition briefs include specific instructions attached so please read them carefully. Different casting directors will have different instructions so please do take the time to read. And of course - read the script!

Q. What is a slate?

A. A ‘slate’, ‘ident’ or ‘chat to camera’ is a short video at the end of your self-tape where you detail your: name, height, age (if under 18), location, profiles and a long shot.

Q. I want to be an actor, where do I get started?

A. There are many avenues to gaining experience - from drama school, workshops, short courses, masterclasses etc.

Q. Are you doing go-sees at the moment?

A. We don’t do go-sees, but we are more than happy to receive a link to your Showcast or Casting Networks profile.

Q. Can I be a reader?

A. Being a reader is a fantastic experience for any actor to get to see inside a casting process. At the moment we aren’t hiring as we are lucky enough that many of our staff were actors before they started casting.

Q. How do I become an extra?

A. Join an extras agency - contact the MEAA for a list of extras agents in each state.

Q. Do you consider freelance actors?

A. Absolutely! Make sure your Showcast and Casting Networks profile are up-to-date.

Q. Do you accept work experience/internship applications?

A. We aren’t currently in a position to offer work experience or internships.

Q. Can I apply for The Block?

A. We no longer work on this. For all Block q’s please email our friend Lucky on lucky@luckybreakcreative.com.
